dihydropyridine calcium antagonist

A calcium channel blocking drug that resembles or is based on pyridine. It is a potent relaxer of smooth muscle cells and is used to treat hypertension, angina pectoris, and other conditions. Examples of dihydropyridines include amlodipine, felodipine, and nifedipine.
