diethylstilboestrol

Diethylstilbestrol, DES. A synthetic female sex hormone. This is now restricted in use to the treatment of certain cancers of the PROSTATE and the breast. If given to pregnant women it can cause cancer in the female offspring. See also STILBOESTROL.
