Admission to hospital for surgery which, while deemed necessary by the treating clinician, can be delayed, in the clinician’s opinion, for 24+ hours.
A type of elective admission to hospital in the UK, in which the patient admitted was given a date of admission at the time of the decision to admit, and determined mainly on the grounds of resource availability.
