Hayman developed the best-known methods for
diallelic analysis, exclusively for homozygous parents (Hayman, 1954a and b).
In the case of multiple alleles for modes (2) and (3), these distributions were reduced to
diallelic cases.
Using (at that time) a sophisticated computer analysis of the reaction patterns of 60 sera from multiparous women against leucocytes from a panel of 100 donors, van Rood found some sera that apparently detected a
diallelic system of leucocyte antigens, which he called 4a and 4b (later to become HLA-Bw4 and -Bw6, respectively).
Indeed,
diallelic crossing is one of the tools that can be employed for the best genotypes (Lima and Cardoso, 2000).
Insertion and/or deletion (indels) polymorphisms are
diallelic markers with the potential for use in the study of genetic diversity and phylogenic relationships.

An NR3C1
diallelic single nucleotide polymorphism, Bcl-1, has been reported to distinguish individuals with the highest GC sensitivity.(6) The aim of the present study was to investigate the association between the NR3C1 gen (Bcl-1-CG) polymorphism and the response to therapy among RA patients and healthy control subjects.
The particular model of fitness landscapes that we consider here begins with an idealized collection of all genotypes that are haploid and
diallelic at n loci.
The two remaining loci (AAT-1, LDH) are both
diallelic systems that resolve well in adults, but since LDH could not be consistently scored in spiderlings during preliminary testing, probably due to a low level of enzyme concentration in their homogenates, only AAT-1 (a cationic locus) was used in this study.
Of 269
diallelic sites (SNPs), 173 (64%) were in the CC study samples and 59 (34%) were unique to the CC study samples (Table 2, online Technical Appendix).
