(dăk″rē-ō-sĭs″tō-rī-nō-stĕ-nō′sĭs) [″ + ″ + rhis, nose, + stenosis, act of narrowing]
Narrowing or obliteration of the canal connecting a lacrimal sac with the nasal cavity. Patency is tested by placing a weak sugar solution in the conjunctival space. If the duct is patent, the patient will report a sweet taste in the mouth.
