2. Distinctive granule found in great alveolar (type II) cells of the lung that releases pulmonary surfactant on the alveolar surfaces. Synonym(s): multilamellar body

2. One of the osmiophilic bodies that are 1 mcm or less in diameter, have concentric lamellae, and occur in the great alveolar cells of the lung.
