ACSS2
(redirected from cytoplasmic acetyl-coenzyme A synthetase ACAS2)ACSS2
A gene on chromosome 20q11.22, which encodes a cytosolic enzyme that produces acetyl-CoA from acetate, for use in lipid synthesis and energy generation. ACSS2 expression is regulated by sterol regulatory element-binding proteins, transcription factors that activate genes required for the synthesis of cholesterol and unsaturated fatty acids.Segen's Medical Dictionary. © 2012 Farlex, Inc.
