crit·i·cal point

a point at which two phases become identical; thus, at a given critical temperature and critical pressure, the liquid and gaseous state of a particular substance can no longer be differentiated.

critical point

the temperature and pressure at which, in a sealed system, the density of the liquid form of a substance is equal to the density of its gas form, and the two are not visibly separated, becoming a single fluid phase instead.
