critical incident stress debriefing(redirected from critical incident stress defusing)
critical incident stress debriefing, critical incident stress defusing,
A group session conducted by mental health professionals and emergency medical service peers for rescuers after a tragic incident, such as the death of a partner, serious injuries to children, a mass casualty incident, or other disaster. A CISD is not a critique but rather an open discussion about rescuers' thoughts about an incident, combined with some teaching about the effects of stress that can be expected over the next few days to weeks.
