A regionally popular slang term for a monthly stipend from the US Social Security Disability Insurance Department given to recipients deemed unable to work because of psychiatric disability; they are billed as a critical safety net for those who might otherwise fall between the cracks and find themselves out on the street, although there is the possibility of the system’s being abused by recipients.
