con·tig map

a physical map of a chromosome or stretch of DNA constructed from sets of overlapping clones (contigs).

contig

A continuous segment of genetic material on a chromosome.

contig

a contiguous set of overlapping DNA sequences, which assemble to form a defined region of the genome from which they derived. Contig formation is a necessary step in determining the sequence of an entire genome by the CLONE CONTIG SEQUENCING METHOD. See also GENOMICS.

contig

a series of overlapping clones or a sequence defining an uninterrupted section of a chromosome.

Two contigs, CL51Contig2 and CL1037Contig1, were highly matched with [beta]-glucosidases from Orpinomyces sp.
This is due to the anemone genes being derived from a sequenced genome and therefore full-length sequences are available for all genes, whereas the Acropora contigs are shorter and only rarely full length.
Of these, 203 contigs and 326 singletons showed significant matches with known-function genes, whereas the other 220 contigs and 77 singletons were unknown-function genes.

73 million reads, assembled into 8668 contigs with an average coverage of 9x and an N50 of 1540 bp.

The data sets were further cleaned from contaminating sequences using Deconseq with the parameters set to 90% of the contig length with an identity of 94% [19].
Regions were considered potentially unique to one strain if they did not have a match according to the backbone output file generated by Mauve or if the output of the software NUCmer indicated that <5% of one contig was not covered or >5% of a contig had double or more coverage from contigs from the other sample.
For visualization, quality assessment, contig (contiguous) assembly, and editing, DNA trace files were im ported to CodonCode Aligner, vers.
