console surgeon

The principal surgeon in robotically-assisted surgery (telesurgery), i.e., the one who operates the controls. This surgeon operates from a distant site, does not need to scrub before the procedure, but does require a surgical assistant in the operating room to help with patient or robotic adjustments.
