A word of caution: all parts of colchicums

with bare legs - their popular name is naked ladies - look shockingly nude.
A plant that never fails to delight is autumn crocuses or Colchicum
Elsewhere in the garden a swathe of collapsed aconitums was hiding the sudden annual appearance of a group of colchicum
produce masses of two foot tall foliage in spring and are only really suited to borders and fronts of shrubberies, never on rock gardens where they will swamp other spring gems.
Perhaps it's because I've always gardened in the North but colchicums
always seem to do poorly.

in bare soil between shrubs to add a splash of colour in autumn.
