clean and jerk

An Olympic weightlifting event in which a barbell’s weight is raised from the floor to overhead in two movements. In the first, the lifter lifts the weight from the floor to a “resting” position across deltoids and clavicle. This is followed by the overhead jerk phase, in which the lifter flexes and then straightens the knees to drive the barbell above the head.
