showed that a combined "tripartite" approach of pre-operative ERCP, laparoscopy, and intraoperative
choledochoscope is a safe and effective means of treating Mirizzi's syndrome and is associated with faster post operative recovery in terms of early resumption of oral feeds and shorter hospitalisation time.
The development of flexible cystoscopy started through the novel use of the
choledochoscope into the bladder (originally it was only meant for use in the common bile duct).
A 5 mm
choledochoscope was introduced via a longitudinal choledochotomy and confirmed the presence of an impacted basket plus large stone at the ampulla (Figure 3).
Then a
choledochoscope was inserted into the common bile duct for exploration after continuous rinsing.
Methods: Totally, 18 patients were diagnosed with BCS by cholangiography following OLT using
choledochoscope or endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography.
Balloon catheter pulmonary embolectomy under direct visual control using a
choledochoscope. Ann Thorac Surg 2011; 91: 621-3.
Distal excision should be complete down to the level of the pancreatic duct junction, which can be confirmed endoscopically using a
choledochoscope or, if not available, a paediatric cystoscope in the case of fusiform cysts with pancreaticobiliary malunion.
The cystic duct can be dilated for passage of a small-diameter flexible fiberoptic
choledochoscope for direct visualization of the duct and retrieval with a basket passed through the working channel of the
choledochoscope.
[3] Per-operative post-exploratory cholangiogram has much morbidity where a
choledochoscope is mandatory.
Unavailability of
choledochoscope to assess the CBD stones on 2nd exploration.
