Evidence of concurrent caudal brain stem displacement was based on evidence that the cervicomedullary junction (using the obex as a landmark) approached or passed the foramen magnum line.
For instance, the length and breadth of the foramen magnum is clinically relevant in patients with achondroplasia; the cervicomedullary junction may be compressed as a result of marked foramen magnum stenosis, resulting in neurologic manifestations (Ryken & Menezes, 1994; Hecht et al., 2014).
