capnography

 [kap-nog´grah-fe]
the measurement of inhaled and exhaled carbon dioxide concentrations, as recorded on a capnogram.

capnography

The measurement and graphic display of CO2 levels in the airways, which can be performed by infrared spectroscopy; capnography facilitates patient management by providing:
(1) Continuous and noninvasive monitoring of ventilation in critically ill patients; and
(2) Early detection of clinically significant changes in respiratory status, by displaying changes in the amount of CO2 and abnormal CO2 waveforms. Capnography can be used to detect an array of clinical conditions—e.g., extubation of respiratory support, hypotension or massive blood loss, emphysema, COPD, pulmonary embolism and others.

Multi-parameter patient monitoring includes devices used for the continuous monitoring of the functional and vital parameters such as Blood Pressure (BP), temperature, oxygen saturation in the blood (SpO2), capnography (CO2), and Respiration Rate (RR) in patients on a continuous basis.
We report a case with tracheostomy presented to OR with loss of capnography but fair oxygen saturation which proved to be tube dislodgement by fiber-optic bronchoscopy timely without further desaturation.
A copy of documented checks should be provided Equipment for monitoring including capnography, ventilation and resuscitation including defibrillation must be available at all sites where patients are anesthetized or sedated and on the delivery suite.
The ReddyPort Oral Care Kit allows patients to receive routine oral care while maintaining pressure in the mask; The ReddyPort Microphone Kit amplifies a patient's voice during NIV; The ReddyPort Nebulizer is a fully enclosed vibrating mesh nebulizer designed to go through the ReddyPort Elbow; And The ReddyPort Capnography Adapter allows for accurate CO2 sampling through the mask during NIV therapy, added the company.
When available, a low end tidal CO2 reading, measured on quantitative waveform capnography during good quality CPR, may also support the diagnosis of PE [23].
Upon insertion of the laryngeal mask, the mask was then connected to the semi-closed circuit, fixing the mask to both jaws with micropore, and adequate performance was confirmed based on chest expansion, capnography, and absence of leaks.

In this study, primary objective was to compare the ultrasound v/s waveform capnography for tube either tracheal or oesophageal confirmation in patients with I-IV MPG.
(13) Other non-invasive monitoring options include the use of capnography to detect hypoventilation and Bispectral index (BIS) to measure the depth of sedation (Table 1).
