(kan″ă-bĭ-dī′ol) [ cannabi(s) + di- + -ol]
An anxiolytic constituent of Cannabis sativa (marijuana). It is one of the two major psychoactive components of the drug. The other is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

cannabidiol

a physiologically inactive principle from Cannabis; its tetrahydro derivatives are active. Has been used as an anticonvulsant.
