cancer centre

cancer centre

A large teaching hospital in the UK which has the personnel and equipment to diagnose and treat both the common cancers that arise in the general population served by the Trust, and rarer cancers that occur in patients referred to the centre from district general hospitals (DGHs), which are not equipped to handle more complex cancers—e.g., soft tissue sarcomas—as they lack the staff or tools (e.g., robotic surgeons, PET scanners).
