CDH8(redirected from cadherin-8)
CDH8A gene on chromosome 16q22.1 that encodes a calcium-dependent cell–cell adhesion glycoprotein (cadherin), which is involved in regulating cell–cell adhesions, mobility and proliferation of epithelial cells. CDH8 is a so-called type-II (atypical) cadherin—which lacks a HAV cell adhesion recognition sequence specific to type-I cadherins—expressed in the brain; it is putatively involved in synaptic adhesion, axon outgrowth and guidance.
