bone mineral density (BMD),

measurement of the amount of calcium in bone. Most methods for measuring BMD (also called bone densitometry) are fast, noninvasive, painless, and available on an outpatient basis. Bone densitometry can also be used to estimate a patient's risk of fracture. BMD methods involve taking dual energy x-rays (DEXA) or CT scans of bones in the spinal column, wrist, arm, or leg. These methods compare the numeric density of the bone (calculated from the image) with empiric (historical) databases of bone density to determine whether a patient has osteoporosis, and, to what degree.

bone mineral density

bone mineral density

A measurement of bone mass, expressed as the amount of mineral—in grams divided by the area scanned in cm2.

bone mineral density

A measurement of bone mass, expressed as the amount of mineral–in grams divided by the area scanned in cm2. See Bone densitometry.

There was no difference in the Z-score between the high and low ACPA titers, and both groups showed a significantly lower systemic bone mineral density than the one that was negative.
The same analysis linked 2 factors to higher bone mineral density: higher body mass index (a measure of weight) and longer treatment with HIV drugs in the integrase inhibitor class: raltegravir (also called Isentress), dolutegravir (also called Tivicay), and elvitegravir (one of the components of Stribild and Genvoya).
Bone health as measured by bone mineral density (BMD) is one of the important factors that affect management of patients with LBP/CLBP6.
The femoral neck is especially a susceptible bone to increase bone mineral density since the effect of physical activity on the bone mineral density occurs at sites that support stress (12).
Additional studies are needed to further describe the mechanism of the association among antidepressants, bone mineral density and fracture risk.
The results of this study were showed a significant correlation between bone mineral density and age (r = -0.587, p < 0.002), height (r = 0.518, p <0.008) weight (r = 0.516, p < 0.008), BMI (r = 0.412, p <0.041), SM (r = 0.647, p < 0.000), and % Fat (r = 0.423, p <0.044).
Previous data have shown that severe renal dysfunction is associated with reduced bone mineral density and fractures, and that a creatinine clearance below 65 mL/min per 1.73 m2 is associated with a higher risk for falls and hip fractures in elderly people.

The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence of the three components of the female athlete triad (disordered eating, menstrual dysfunction, and low bone mineral density [BMD]) and their relationships with brachial artery flow-mediated dilation in professional dancers.
