A duality that has been accepted, largely without question, since the earliest times. The term soul is, however, indefinable in scientific terms but is taken to be an entity associated with the body but clearly distinguished from it. Various accounts of the properties of the soul have been asserted from time to time by theologians, but such assertions are not of a nature as can be verified.
