Edema of the eyelids, often causing a swollen and puffy appearance; causes may be allergic, inflammatory, infectious, circulatory (for example, cicatricial), posttraumatic, postsurgical, or secondary to ocular conditions (for example, keratoconjunctivitis sicca).
