biocoenosis

the COMMUNITY of organisms which occupies a particular BIOTOPE.

Based on the premises that some species may displace themselves both seasonally and latitudinally between habitats, depending on the availability and requirements of resources, and move around the habitat in non-random ways, and according to spatiotemporally and latitudinally distributed requirements, on the one hand, and the fact that many ecosystems, although of reduced extension and low biocenotic heterogeneity support relatively high species richness and vulnerable vertebrate fauna on the other hand, three new environmental figures are proposed and defined after examining ecological criteria that are potentially relevant to the legal conservation of biodiversity at local regional and continental scales.
Biocenotic processes are shaped by hydrology and, vice versa, biocenotic structure and interactions shape hydrological processes (Zalewski, 2000, 2006a).
