benign metastasising leiomyoma(redirected from benign metastasizing leiomyomatosis)
benign metastasising leiomyomaA rare smooth muscle cell neoplasm affecting women, which is characterised by multiple histologically benign smooth muscle tumours of the lung, which remain constant in size for a long time. These tumours are thought to be clonally derived from benign-appearing uterine smooth muscle tumours. The prevailing treatment option is primary excision of the nodules—rather than “wait-and-see”—or, if unresectable, long-time hormone therapy.
