beer drinkers’ cardiomyopathyA condition of historical interest that occurred when cobalt was added to malt as a ‘frothing’ agent, which affected those who consumed 2+ litres of cobalt-treated beer per day. Findings included cardiomegaly, congestive heart failure, tachycardia, hypotension and hepatomegaly.
