nuts(redirected from been nuts about)
Also found in: Dictionary, Thesaurus.
Dry fruits with an edible kernel enclosed in a leathery or woody shell (e.g., almonds, walnuts), which are a vegetarian food staple.
In the past, conventional wisdom held that the high fat content of nuts made them a suboptimal source of protein, and thus had been restricted in those on low-fat diets; nuts are now widely regarded as a healthy food, as they are high in omega-3 fatty acids and unsaturated (good) fats. Increased consumption of nuts is associated with lower cholesterol, reduced myocardial infarction, and decreased osteoporosis.
adjective (colloquial) Crazy, deranged.
