bed bug-detection dog

bed bug-detection dog

A term for a dog trained to locate bed bugs, which have a characteristic odour, variously described as that of cilantro, coriander, almonds or overripe raspberries. Under research conditions, BBDDs are up to 97.5% accurate, but are probably less accurate under field conditions which add multiple variables to the milieu. They are faster in detecting bed bugs than humans.
