inflammation of the vitreous body; called also vitreitis and vitritis.
asteroid hyalitis hyalitis marked by spherical or star-shaped bodies in the vitreous; see also benson's disease.
hyalitis puncta´ta a form marked by small opacities.
hyalitis suppurati´va purulent inflammation of the vitreous body.

asteroid hyalitis

One of the spherical or star-shaped bodies in the vitreous of the eye, caused by inflammation.

asteroid hyalitis

An eye condition in which many small, white bodies become suspended in the vitreous humour. In the light of the ophthalmoscope these gleam in a strikingly star-like manner. Also known as steroid hyalosis.
