ar·cu·ate fi·bers

nervous or tendinous fibers passing in the form of an arch from one structure to (usually) an immediately adjacent structure, such as gyri in the cerebral cortex. See: arcuate fibers of cerebrum, external arcuate fibers, internal arcuate fibers.
