arach·nase
(ă-rak'nās)A positive control plasma for the monitoring of clotting-endpoint coagulation tests used in the detection of circulating lupus anticoagulants. It is a normal plasma that contains a venom extract from the brown recluse spider, Loxosceles reclusa, which mimics the presence of a lupus anticoagulant in several clotting-endpoint tests.
