antigen/antibody complex

The association of an ANTIGEN with its resulting ANTIBODY to form a molecular group which can be damaging to tissues, especially to the lining of blood vessels. More usually called an immune complex. A growing number of diseases is recognized as being caused by antigen/antibody complexes. See also IMMUNE COMPLEXES.
