anaemia panel

A group of lab tests which are regarded as being the cost-efficient, sensitive and specific in evaluating a patient with anaemia.
 
Components
Complete blood count with indices (haematocrit and haemoglobin), automated WBC differential and reticulocyte counts. If the anaemia is hypochromic and microcytic, the AP includes serum iron, TIBC and percent saturation of ferritin; if the anaemia is macrocytic, then vitamin B12 and folate levels are measured.
