amphetamine sulfate

a colorless water-soluble salt of amphetamine that stimulates the central nervous system. It has been used to treat certain respiratory complaints, fatigue, and narcolepsy and to effect weight loss. It formerly was used to treat obesity.

amphetamine sulfate

A synthetic white crystalline substance that acts as a central nervous system stimulant; (C9H13N)2SO4. It is used to treat narcolepsy and certain types of mental depression. Use of amphetamine sulfate to control appetite is contraindicated. High doses are toxic, and prolonged use may cause drug dependence.
