amitosis

nuclear division in a cell that occurs without the formation of a SPINDLE or the appearance of chromosomes, and from which daughter nuclei with identical chromosome sets are probably not produced. Amitosis occurs for example in the protozoan Paramecium when the MACRONUCLEUS divides.

Remak fibers - nerve fibers lacking a myelin sheath but, in common with others, enveloped by a sheath of Schwann cells. Synonym(s): unmyelinated fibers
