alpha (alpha)-adrenergic receptors

Adrenergic receptors in effector tissues capable of selective activation by methoxamine and blockade by phenoxybenzamine. Their activation results in physiologic responses (e.g., increased peripheral vascular resistance, mydriasis, and contraction of pilomotor muscles).
