acidophilic pituitary adenoma(redirected from acidophile pituitary adenoma)
acidophilic pituitary adenomaA now-abandoned term for pituitary tumours which was based on nonspecific—i.e., nonhormonal—staining characteristics (acidophilia, basophilia, chromophobe) and correlates poorly with the pattern of secretion. Acidophilic pituitary tumours most commonly secrete prolactin and less commonly, growth hormone.
