Doctors and health professionals are accountable before the law, the Hippocratic Oath, peers, patients, and grant-giving agencies (if they do research), to the public, insurance carriers, and government agencies.
(2) Taking responsibility for one’s own actions and defending them to anyone who asks (e.g. to stakeholders, the general public, colleagues, partner agencies and policy makers). Organisational accountability includes the statutory responsibility of the NHS and Social Services Department in the UK.
