Q. I get shooting pains in my buttocks and both upper legs
|A||Sounds like radicular pain (pain originating from injury to the roots of the nerves in the spinal column). Is it aggravated by coughing, straining, standing or sitting? Is it relieved by lying down.|

Q. What are the presenting signs of ALS? Are the upper or lower extremeties affected initialilly?
|A||The most common presenting sign of ALS is asymmetric limb weakness, usually starting with the hands (problems with pinching, writing, holding things etc.) shoulders (lifting arms above head etc.) or legs (problems walking).|
Other presenting signs may be problems with speaking or swallowing, although these are less common.

Q. Hello friends, my uncle suffers from fibromyalgia and arthritis in his upper shoulder and hand.
Hello friends, my uncle suffers from fibromyalgia and arthritis in his upper shoulder and hand...I told him he needs to exercise. Can some give me a list or a website with a couple of general exercises that includes a diagram (preferred)
|A||Hello Daron, Eat only when hungry and not more than thrice a day. Include plenty of uncooked vegetables and fruits in each meal, preferably 50%. Chew each morsel at least 32 times to activate your body to generate signals of hunger/fullness. Obey these signals. Take light exercises and brisk walks regularly preferably twice a day. U will achieve what u have not even dreamt and that too in a reasonable time. Do not be in a hurry. Have him see a doctor, first, and then someone doing psy rehab. I can think of lots of good exercises for healthy people, but it seems like your uncle needs medical attention.|
Q. I have sharp pain in upper left back, what could that be?
When I inhale, it hurts also. Yesterday, the pain penetrated through the front to below my breast and a little in my side also. The pain is above the kidney in the back, and under the breast in the front.
|A||could be number of things, it could be a sprained intercostal muscle - the muscles between the ribs. it can cause pain while breathing and because it doesn't happen very often- people have no idea what it is. and it could also be a fracture of the rib, the ribs are a very delicate bone. especially i older people, it can be fractured easily and cause pain while breathing. there probably more conditions that have this symptom, but you should look them up with a Dr. that can test for them.|
Q. i suffer from upper and lower back pain , and i use this heating pills and it does not do a thing !!! i paid
a 50$ bucks for those and my back still hurts like hell ! what can i do to make it go away , or at least ease the pain by a bit ????
|A||Low back pain is very very common. The best solution is to combine mellow physical activity (streching, walking, swimming) on a daily basis, with creams that have anti pain ingredients during extreme pain. If the pain is continuous you should see a doctor for some further evaluation.|

Q. I have been suffering from back pain for the past two months. I have tried several treatments. Any ideas?
I don't have a history of back pain. I started to experience pain in my shoulders, neck and upper back about two months ago. Prior to the condition I started to work out with a personal trainer, but I felt good for three months, so the doctor and I don't think there is a connection. I tried many types of massages, chiropractic treatment, and Acupunctures. I also went to an orthopedic MD. The doctor prescribed Arxocia for ten days and another round of Arxocia pills . I still have pain in my shoulders and neck. Any ideas what can I do. The doctor says it's nothing serious and that it's called upper back pain and that it will pass with time. Any ideas to ease the pain and treat this?

|A3||Stretch each morning and night using the muscles that hurt, use a broom stick. Do not over do it, stretch it out to the point right before you feel pain, and hold it for 5-10 seconds. This will loosen the muscles up, so when you use them during the day without thinking, they will be already stretched out. Your doc is right. Time will heal you. Theres no pill that can help, except if you get pain killers which will just mask the pain. Stretch and do not try to do anything you think will aggravate the injurie. You'll be at square 1 if you re-injure yourself. When you do feel better, try and work out the muscles that were hurting you, using very light weight gradually increaseing. You will make the muscles stronger this way. Good luck, in know what you must be going threw and it really sucks!! (Did acupuncture work 4 u? It did nothing for me at all. My back was killing me, and this girl was sticking pins in my ear?? What??? lol)|
