Q. How much is it true?

My Chemo treatment just got over and I started to relax for a while. My best friend and well wisher advised me to cut on dairy products as much as possible. She said it will be harmful if I consume them, as they increase the chances of breast cancer. How much is it true?
AThe main purpose of consuming milk is to get calcium and Vitamin D which is necessary for our body. But as a matter of fact, the milk does not contain them. So inorder to ensure calcium and Vitamin D supplement, the Government has taken measures and fortified the milk with calcium and Vitamin D. Instead of having milk, which ultimately increases fat for adults, they can choose to get the supplement from other source. The scientists have established a link between milk and breast cancer, as the rats started to develop tumor when consumed milk. But the results are yet to be proven in human.

Q. Is this true?

I am interested in Chinese medicine. So I have been reading a lot about the Chinese herb, Ei Ta Mei, which is said to be good for weight loss. Is this true?
A1HELLO JOHNSON10,I thank you myself(mrfoot56)for that answer,on herbal or natural meds--THE KEY TO ALL THIS MESS ABOUT THIS STUFF,is THE EFFECTIVENESS IS NOT REQUIRED BY LAW-THAT SHOULD MAKE PEOPLE THINK ABOUT WHAT THEY ARE SPENDING THEIR MONEY ON,THEIR ARE WAYS TO LOOSE WEIGHTBUT YOU HAVE TO GO TO A DR(for help)-FIND OUT WHY YOU CANT LOOSE WEIGHT-IT COULD BE MEDICAL--LIKE JOHNSON SAID-SOMBODY IS GETTING RICH OFF OF SOMEONE PAIN,OR PROBLEMS-AND IT WILL CONTINUE UNLESS PEOPLE EDUCATE THEMSEVES,ABOUT THIS STUFF,NOT JUST TAKE THE WORD OF A PERSON THATS GETTING PAID BY A COMPANY TO SAY WHATEVER THEY want------thank you --mrfoot56
A2Me too dear Brown, but I do not know of an herb named Ei Ta Mei. As far as I know, Ei Ta Mei is a product name, not the name of an herb. What is the actual herb? I couldn't find out. A familiar search engine discovered pages of sellers and marketers, but not a single reference to the ingredients or to any testing, studies, or even any history or rational for this product. The personal testimony I found was scarce and sounded managed. I didn't find any testimony on real bulletin boards. US law requires that herbal products be safe. Effectiveness is not required by law. The weight loss market is, by far, the easiest to make a buck or a fortune in. Draw your own conclusions.

Q. Is it true that fasting (occasionally) is good for health?

Many people say that fasting helps the body clean itself, it there a truth behind this?
AFasting does help "clean" the intestine for a short period of time. I cannot say it is especially recommended medically-wise to fast every now and then, because our bodies are functioned to digest food and there is usually no problem doing so, and an occasional fast does not show any benefitial healthy effects on the GI system.

Q. Is it true that alcohol has lots of calories?

if so, then how can it be that people who are alcoholics are not all very fat?
A1Alcohol carries about 7 Kcal per gram. 1 gram of fat gives 9 kcal & 1 gram of carbohydrate gives 4 kcal. but vast amount of alcohol can suppress the need for food, so they can pass out every afternoon and forget eating. obesity is a better situation. trust me.
A2Alcohol does have lots of calories but alcoholists drink more than they eat-that's why they're not fat. just so you know- beer is the most fattening, wine is better in this matter- white better than red...

Q. Is it true that fibromyalgia is a disability?

I haven't worked long enough to draw my regular social security, the fibromyalgia i have had since 1996 keeps me from working, so why can't i get ssi and some health insurance please help me.
A1Fibromyalgia is a relatively new term in the medical world, which primarily is defined by muscle and tissue pain and the etiology, or reason is unknown. Also, sufferers react to pain with a light touch often. Other symptoms include stiff joints and insomnia.

Fibromyalgia is considered a symptom, as this is when a set of symptoms occur together without known cause. A disability, however, is a physical defect or illness that is clearly defined.

Fibromyalgia shares symptoms of those who have a high degree of stress and/or anxiety, so this has been suggested as the cause as well. These links that follow might help more:

A2Yes. Fibro is a disability. I was approved for disability on my first application. Started to receive disability payments last February. Next month I am elegible for medicare for my disability. When I first was notified of approval of my application they told me my case would be reviewed in five years. I am considered completely disabled. I worked for 31 years as a registered nurse before fibro essentially took my life away. I also have several other medical problems. All of my medical ills are well documented. I went to the social security web site and followed their directions to the letter. I did not apply by web but made an appointment and took all my records with me. This included all my work records as well. Don't take shortcuts. Do exactly as they tell you too. Do not apply until you have everything you need. It takes some time to collect all the records, but it has to be done. Good luck.
A3If you have worked amnd SS decides you are Disabled after you apply you get Social Security Disability Insurance but what if you are a homemaker or have been disabled your whole life then you can get Social Security Insurance which is SSI ,SSI is generally less money ,even if you are hurt and not sure if you will need it you should apply so if you dont get better you get back pay to the day you first applied for SSDI or SSI ,I have RSD it's like my limbs and lower back are on fire like when the nerves return after a third degree burn but "Totally Disabling?)only you know that i can get on the computer for a little while and take a shower etc . It is wrong to sat Social Security assigns you a LAWYER ,I can swear to the Good Lord they do not .
Workmans Comp may get you a Lawyer to settle cheap ,Think about itg if I ran you over an d said I will pay for your lawyer ,is that the lawyer you want ?
I checked these out on the Social Security Page and I hop[e you do .

Q. Is it true that Zocor helps to prevent heart attacks?

I am a 54 years old male, and I have family history of cardio vascular diseases. My physician prescribed me Zocor and said it will lower the chance for heart attacks. If it is true how come not all of the population is taking this drug? Is it really a good way to prevent cardio vasculare diseases?
A1there are several drugs that are used to decrease the chance of a heart attack and i heard Zocor is one of them. it is a good prevention method but it won't help every one and it shouldn't be used without the GP's recommendation
A2Zocor is a drug that is used to lower the risk of heart attack. It works by lowering the LDL (the bad cholesterol). The reason why not everyone is taking it is that not every one has a high bad cholesterol.
