Q. what causes ridges in fingernails
center of nail is splitting down the middle toward the nail bed.
|A1|| Vertical ridges that appear on the nail can indicate disorders as simple as iron deficiency, poor absorption of vitamins and nutrients, overall poor health or they could indicate something as serious as kidney trouble. |
it might be wise to get a blood test.
|A2||i don't know if there is any connection, but that finger with the severe ridges (incidentally, rest of both hands are ridge-free) is also arthritic ... and often goes into a tight & painful cramp and i have to use the other hand to pull it up and out of that cramp.|
