Q. I am worried how safe the operation would be and the post surgery complications?
My wife has a cyst in her right breast and further tests are going on. Doctors have advised to go for an operation. I am worried how safe the operation would be and the post surgery complications?
|A1||My friend, surgery for the cyst in breast is common. Any cyst in breast indicates breast cancer. These surgeries are very safe. Initially they used to cut the complete breast to remove the cyst. Now with the advanced technology, only the cyst would be removed without harming other tissues. Rather complete removal is done these days, but that depend upon the severity of the cancer. These surgeries are proven with results. If the cyst is less they will remove only the affected portion and yes they do remove some nearby tissues because there some cancer cells may lay and can arrive again. For any post surgery complications, chemotherapy treatment is also available.|
|A2||I guess she's indicated for biopsy of the cyst. It's not a big operation, although it does necessitate general anesthesia. The risks are quite low, although they do exist. Post-op period shouldn't be too problematic - some pain and discomfort, but no change in any vital organ function.|
You may want to consult her doctor for more precise information.
Q. Is beer a good post-workout drink?
We have an argument here within our friends. Please settle our argument. Is beer a good post-workout drink?
|A1||no, beer is not good for you after a workout.|
|A2||How much is the bet buddy? It may taste good when you're thirsty, but drinking beer is not an effective way to rehydrate after exercising. Alcohol has a diuretic effect. As a result, instead of replenishing your fluid levels, beer promotes additional water loss via urination. Some individuals erroneously believe that beer gives them a carbohydrate boost plus extra potassium. An urgent need for these nutrients immediately following a workout, however, simply does not exist. Even if an individual needed these specific nutrients, beer is a relatively poor source. For example, compared to orange juice, a 12-ounce can of beer has only 13 grams and 90 milligrams of carbohydrates and potassium, respectively, versus 26 grams of carbohydrates and 450 milligrams of potassium in 8 ounces of orange juice.|
Q. Can somebody post a training plan?
This is Moses, 22 yrs old male. I can run 1 to 3 km but my goal is to reach 15 km. I like to improve my fitness. How frequent do I need to practice to improve my fitness? Can somebody post a training plan?
|A||Hi Moses, now I can run 12 km and I achieved this target by doing daily practice. So I suggest you to practice daily if you want to improve your fitness and to reach your goal. Slowly and slowly you will reach your target. You cannot reach the target in just one attempt. Please ensure that you practice daily and follow a proper schedule. In addition to that you need to have strict diet control and also have more water. I hope you would be able to reach you goal fast. Good Luck!!!|
Q. Don't hesitate to post even if you know small tips.
I’m 24, female and I am addicted to alcohol. I’m wondering if there is any permanent cure for alcoholism. Don't hesitate to post even if you know small tips.
|A1||Hey, come on! you're still very young. The best way to quit alcohol is by HAVING IN MIND (correct! that's the power of mind) that you WANT to QUIT.|
the environmental support will mean a lot, so if you think that you're surrounded by non-supporting people, you have to find the antidote, if it is needed you can move to a new place, with a new environment, and surely with the new supporting groups.

Q. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions regarding aerobic exercise post DVT and/or PE?
|A||drink a lot of water and be aware. if you take your meds i think there shouldn't be a problem, but i strongly recommend asking your physician about it. he knows you and the problem and can give you a much much better answer.|
Q. 4 years post prostatectomy with psa=0 the psa went up to 0.3. how come? what does it mean?
|A||It probably means you still have some prostate tissue in your body despite the surgical removal. This tissue can grow and produce PSA. You should be followed up by a urologist to keep track of your PSA. If it keeps rising perhaps there will be a need of another ultrasound examination to see exactly what is left.|
