Q. I mean what this fitness is all about…..

I know nutritious diet is important for good health but why is the need for fitness …..I mean what this fitness is all about…..
A1Fitness can help you live longer and has been proven to help the body, muscles, bones not age as much as if you were inactive...
A2Once you get good nutritious food it doesn’t mean that you are fit. When you eat anything it must be used and if it stores then it causes trouble. Fitness is the body`s ability to function adequately and reliably all day and in all times. If your good diet cannot give you this then you are not fit and you must do something to make yourself fit.

Q. why do you call Bipolar ... Bipolar? i mean what does it mean?

ABipolar disorder is called this way because it is charecterized by two types of obvious mood disorders- depression on the one side, and mania, or hypomania (a manic state, or 'high'), on the other side.

Q. Does ascites mean it's the end?

My mother, age 65 was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in a routine US examination. It was also diagnosed she already has mild ascites. Does that mean her cancer is metastatic?
A1Ascites can render the staging of the cancer as metastatic, but it depends on the specific characters of the ascites, so further testing is needed here.
A2Not necesserily. She may have ascites and the cancer would still be considered to be in early stage. The stage of the cancer depends on other things as well.

Q. what does moderate drinking mean?

I am addicted to drinks… oops! Not water but alcohol. My well-wishers advised and requested me to drink moderate. Is it so? If I have to hate my habit then I want to know what does moderate drinking mean.
A1To me, you know that you don't drink "moderately" if you are questioning it. And apparently those around you are noticing. The helpful thing is that you know it. Most people who drink will deny it. Maybe you should visit a local AA meeting and get a feel for what you are doing. There is plenty support there. It would be a good thing to nip it in the bud at this early point.
A2Moderation means casual drinking where you don't get noticeably inebriated. Maybe a glass of wine with dinner or a beer occasionally.
When it gets to be every day or every Friday and Saturday night, getting wasted all the time, drinking in the afternoon without eating to get that "buzz", its no longer in moderation.

If you could "take it or leave it" it could be moderate.

For an alcoholic like me, there is no more drinking ever again. To start drinking again, even after 17 years of recovery, would be my death. It would be like stepping out in front of a fast train, the end would come quickly. I decided on the side of life long ago. I admitted I was completely powerless over alcohol and went through the 12 steps. And one day at a time, 17 years later, by the sheer grace of my higher power, God, I am still here.

Try going to an AA meeting in your area. It could save your life.

A3If you think you are addicted to alcohol, there is no such thing as moderate drinking.one way to find out is to see how long you can go without a drink(1 month). You should find as much info on alcoholism as you can,If you are young now an i think you are-slow down if you are not adicted to alcohol.prolonged use can cause.alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver-alcoholic psychosis/carddiomyopathy-fetal alcohol syndrone/prolonged alcohol use can lead to imparement of the brain/nervous system/coronary heart disease/hypertention/stoke and digestive system problems(gastritis/ulcers-if you find you do have a problem go to alcoholics anonymous-you can find them on the web or they have a 800#-you do not have to pay, just go 30 meeting in 30 days-GOOD LUCK-mrfoot56-peace

Q. what does it mean when u have blood in your stool?

A1Blood in the stool can be bright red, maroon in color, black and tarry, or occult (not visible to the naked eye). Causes of blood in stool range from harmless, annoying conditions of the gastrointestinal tract such as hemorrhoids to serious conditions such as cancer. Blood in the stool should be evaluated by a healthcare professional.Rectal bleeding (known medically as hematochezia) refers to passage of bright red blood from the anus, often mixed with stool and/or blood clots. Most rectal bleeding comes from the colon, rectum, or anus. The color of the blood during rectal bleeding often depends on the location of the bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract. Generally, the closer the bleeding site is to the anus, the blood will be a brighter red. For the rest of this you can go to http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/forum.asp?articlekey=24701
Hope this helps.
A2well, it could mean a lot of things. if you are a man over the age of 50 - could mean colon cancer. could mean you ate a chicken bone that scratches your colon. if you have a diarrhea - could mean some sort of a disease like cholera or something. it's a symptom, here is a web page that talkes about it:

but you might as well go see a Dr.- it's usually not a good sign.

Q. What does the term ‘gestational’ diabetes mean?

Hi, I was wondering what does having gestational diabetes mean because I have heard some friend of mine might have it.
A1Gestational diabetes is the term for diabetes that is discovered during pregnancy, and is triggered by it. Even though it may be transient, untreated gestational diabetes can damage the health of the fetus or mother. It affects about 1 in 50 pregnancies and is nowadays often diagnosed and treated early, thanks to the screening methods (glucose challenge tests) women undertake during their pregnancies.
A2Gestational diabetes is diabetes that develops during in the mother during a pregnancy. It resembles type 2 diabetes in several respects, involving a combination of relatively inadequate insulin secretion and responsiveness. It occurs in about 2%–5% of all pregnancies and may improve or disappear after delivery. Gestational diabetes is fully treatable but requires careful medical supervision throughout the pregnancy. About 20%–50% of affected women develop type 2 diabetes later in life.
