Q. How do you know when depression is chemical or situational?

I've been feeling frustrated lately and while I think I show some signs of depression I think it is more a feeling down because of recent changes in my life. Every time I have seen a professional they all want to start me on some drug and having really seen no improvement over the years I swore off them years ago. When is it depression or "My life sucks right now"?
A1Thank you Johanna for sharing this with us.
A2Has depression been a pervasive theme in your life? Have you been down
more often than not? Or has it only been during the recent changes you mentioned? And have you seen a 'talk' therapist, or only a doctor? If you are reluctant to take medications you might want to see a therapist first to see if that will help you deal with your depressive mood. The therapist should also be able to advise you whether you should seek medical treatment or not. Good luck!
A3Every depression is a chemical depression. The brain reacts to whatever our senses show him. And situational depression still causes the same chemical unbalance. It can happen with or without a reason, it can be severe or light and it can be short or long.

Q. ADHD medications work on these brain chemicals?

Hope you all know about the different types of brain chemicals, so the ADHD medications work on these brain chemicals?
AYes Alexzander. The active ingredients in the common ADHD medications are amphetamines. The amphetamines artificially increase the amount of certain neurotransmitters in the brain, speeding up the brain (thus the term “speed” for amphetamines). This makes the frontal area more active, at least while the drug is acting.

Q. How do you tell the difference between chemical burns, and burns from fire?

Please don't spare on gross words i would like to know everything there is to burns.
A1Here is a ton of info on both-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chemical_burn
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burn_%28injury%29
A2Flame induced burns are caused by the heat destroying your bodily tissue. Chemical burns result from the chemicals reacting with your flesh in ways that dissolve parts of you, digest you, or react and destroy bonds in the molecules that hold you together. The nice part about burns is that they can all be categorized together as the various means of destroying your tissue in the exact ways that no one enjoys. I hope that helps though I lacked on gross words. ....can i get extra points for adding in Ooze, puss, slime, boils, and fecal matter? You get the "Ooze, puss, slime, and boils" part from he burns, and then "fecal matter" when you realize what happened.
A3All thermal burns (from fire or flame) cause an injury to the different layers of the skin. The type of burn and the severity of the burn depends on the number of layers of skin affected.
Most chemical burns occur on the face, eyes, and arms and legs. Usually a chemical burn will be relatively small and will require only outpatient treatment. Signs and symptoms of chemical burns may include the following: Redness, irritation, or burning at the site of contact. Pain or numbness at the site of contact. Formation of blisters or black dead skin at the contact site. Vision changes if the chemical gets into your eyes. Cough or shortness of breath. In severe cases, you may develop any of the following:
Low blood pressure. Faintness, weakness, dizziness. Shortness of breath or severe cough. Headache. Muscle twitching or seizures. Cardiac arrest or irregular heartbeat.

Q. Which of these meds are better and without any side effect, chemical medicine or Chinese herbal medicine.

Hi, I want to know which of these medicines are better and without any side effect, chemical medicine or Chinese herbal medicine. Can herbal treat all diseases?
A1Hi rohan this question always get me going;;CHINESE MED ARE USED MORE FOR PREVENTION,and like BRANDON said most drugs are made from plants?and ther is NO such thing as a med without side effects.natural is not always true, and herbal refers to (plants). If you have a diseace there is no quick cure, most diseases are controlled by meds---dont be fooled by the HYPE--mrfoot56--peace
A2it always makes me wonder this question. why people think that if something is "natural" it doesn't have side effects? calling something "herbal" doesn't make it safe. there are plants that can kill you very fast with a very small amount. in fact- there are many drugs that come from plant- morphine, aspirin and more. if you take a herbal poition with the aspirin active material in it- it won't have side effects if taken in great amount?
