Q. how do you deal with a mild case of acid reflux

AYou can start with life style changes: if you have symptoms during the night, you can try to elevate the head of your bed. You can try to avoid foods that induce reflux: fatty foods, chocolate, peppermint, and excessive alcohol. Cola, red wine, and orange juice are very acidic, so it would be wise to avoid them too, In addition to these, you can try to use a diary to reveal which kind of food causes symptoms and avoid it.

Try to refrain from lying down immediately after a meal, or eating just before bedtime. Overweight is a risk factor for reflux, so if it's relevant weight reduction is also recommended.

If you feel heartburn, you may chew in order to increase salivation and thus alleviate the symptoms. Smoking has a negative effect on salivation, so smoking cessation is also recommended.

And that's before we even mentioned OTC drugs...

Q. Are medications always needed in a case of insomnia?

I've been suffering from insomnia for about a month now- for the first time in my life though. It did start in a few hard days in which I had a lot on my mind. Back then I thought I just have to wait for those issues to be solved and over and I'd be sleeping like a beauty. Guess what- I still find myself lying in bed for hours every night and waking up in the middle of the night after I finally fall asleep. Is there a way to help me sleep without starting to take all kinds of chemicals??
A1I know how frustrating this is! I got this from a Biopsych text:

"Many cases of insomnia are...physician created--in large part because sleeping pills, which are usually prescribed by physicians, are a major cause of insomnia. At first...drugs are effective in increasing sleep, but soon the patient is trapped in a rising spiral as tolerance to the drug develops.
"In one study insomniacs claimed to take an average of 1 hour to fall asleep and to sleep an average of only 4.5 hours per night; but when they were tested in a sleep lab they were found to have an average sleep latency of only 15 minutes and an average nightly sleep duration of 6.5 hours.
"One of the most effective treatments..is sleep restriction therapy. First, the amount of time spent in bed is substantially reduced. Then after a period of sleep restriction, time is gradually increased as long as sleep latency remains in a normal range. Even sever insomnia often benefit from this treatment"(Pinel,
A2You may want to consider trying acupuncture to help with your insomnia. Often, insomnia is caused by an imbalance in the body that disturbs the mind. You can read more about using Acupuncture for Insomnia here:

To complement the acupuncture treatment, you can also try some acupressure on yourself. There are several points you can massage and press detailed in this article:

Several treatments may be necessary to restore proper sleep habits, but you should feel the different after the 1st or 2nd treatment.
A3You can always try some alternative therapies e.g. hypnotherapy.

Q. is it true that nowadays there are many more cases of autism than there were 50 years ago?

AI'm not sure that autism is more common today but rather it's diagnosed better - the diagnosis isn't trivial, and in the past many times autistic children were diagnosed as suffering from childhood schizophrenia or other diseases.

Q. Do dental caries really cause death in severe cases?

its written in wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dental_caries i have a severe case of dental cavity. I’m scared
ABasically, dental caries is an infection. That means bacterial growth. When it enters the blood stream the bacteria can travel around and sit on your heart, for example, and then to destroy it’s valves. Or it can get to the brain or what ever. The same way you can die from a contamination of a deep wound. But don’t get too excited, just go to the dentist.

Q. What about Vitamins? are they any benefits i can draw out of it that would be helpful for an allergy cases?

ANothing that I know about. Vitamins are essential to the normal functions of our body, but supplements of vitamins, aside from states of deficiency, generally haven't been shown to provide any benefit. Anyway, it's only general knowledge - if you have any specific question, you may want to be checked by a professional (e.g. a doctor)

Q. Do dental caries really cause death in severe cases?

its written in wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dental_caries i have a severe case of dental cavity. I’m scared
A1The only time a dental cavity can cause death is if the infection becomes severe and enters the blood stream, in which case it might spread to the vital organs. If you have not already talked to your doctor or dentist, do so right away--they should know if you need to be prescribed medication or otherwise treated to prevent the infection from spreading. Generally death is only a danger if a really severe infection is ignored; just talk to your dentist and make an appointment and you should be fine.
A2the big problem with dental caries is that if you neglect it in such a matter that it passes through the tooth and enters the tooth pulp- the bacteria that enters can cause local infection and can even go through to cause sepsis or just move along the body. but usually the pain will bring you sooner to the dentist...

Q. I also fear that if my case is diagnosed as Breast Cancer how can I achieve my dreams?

I am a Mechanical Student currently in my second year. It is very rare to find a girl pursuing this course. In fact, all my friends and well wishers too have advised me that it may be tough for a girl pursuing this course of study. I am a very stubborn girl very much firm in my opinion. For the recent past months, I fear that I may be having a breast cancer. I have lethal classes which I always found to be difficult. Of late, I could see a lump in the under arm area which is painful when touched. I fear that this may be due to the heavy workout which I had to do as per my curriculum. I have got so many dreams to be achieved in the near future and this worry is causing me greater concern that I am not able to concentrate in my studies and my performance in the college has also declined to the significant level. I feel that this needs to be diagnosed without any further delay. I also fear that if my case is diagnosed as Breast Cancer how can I achieve my dreams and lead a full-fledged life? Please advise me suitably….
A1as jenniferLinda said -there's little to worry about. a lump under the arm can be from many things...there are lymph nodes over there and every viral infection can cause swelling.
A2Hi don’t worry. A lump in the under arm area is one of the symptoms of breast cancer. The first and the foremost sign of breast cancer is a lump in the breast that can be felt by you or by the physician. A lump that is painless, hard and uneven edges is more likely to be diagnosed as Breast Cancer. But in your case the lump appears to be painful which is quite contrary to the symptom of breast cancer. I wish you to see other symptoms of breast cancer such as skin irritation, breast pain, nipple discharge, redness and thickening of the nipple. But I shall suggest you to consult your physician without any further delay and live without fear. I can assure you that there are remote chances for you to be diagnosed with breast cancer as breast cancer is very rare in women below 30 years.
