Q. Am I addicted to caffeine?

I love coffee! I can't start my day without it. I drink about 5 cups a day. How do I know if I am addicted?
A1When your body starts shaking, your heartbeat flutters, you feel lightheaded, you want to mow the lawn at 1 a.m., they are symptons I've had of a caffeine overdose. Drink lots of water and hydrating drinks! Stay away from Mountain Dew!!!!
A2I think you answered your own question, if you cant start the day with out it, then there's a problem. If you want to slow down, try drink one less cup a day. Coffee is bad for you. Its got to be up to you if you want a healty bodie.
A3yes!drink water you will notice a big difference in how u feel ...this is a fact i used to be very addicted ... its one of the easy drugs to kick though .... nicotine is the hardest.

Q. Am I addicted to smoking?

I only smoke when I go out with my friends to a pub and at parties. Does this make me an addict?
A1You might not be addicted; however you shouldn't smoke at all since it is very unhealthy. If all your friends smoke, maybe you should start hanging out with non smoking friends as well or take your smoking friends out to places where they can't smoke and then you will not feel obligated to join them.
A2That doesn't nessecarily make you an addict. To test it you should see if one time when you go out with your friends you can restrain from smoking. If you aren't craving cigs or if they are something you can do without and still function properly then no you are not addicted to them. Hope this helps.
A3no idont hikn so if just dont you just smoke around your friends and then not at home than i dont think so get any nor and see if you can go with out them

Q. How would you define Addiction? In every aspect of life ...

A1Thank you cerebralknevil for your answer. It's so imporant that we listen and support one another. Will you be interested in helping more people here?
A2Your question asked in every aspect of life I dare say it is to be human. The things we need through god given instincts taken in balanced, healthy, moderate ways are good & not addiction. Addiction infers that which is bad & the human condition is such that we all fall short of the glory of God. So where we do repeatedly often forms the pattern that can technically be our addiction.
A3The term "addiction" is used in many contexts to describe an obsession, compulsion, or excessive physical dependence or psychological dependence, such as: drug addiction, alcoholism, compulsive overeating, problem gambling, computer addiction, etc.

In medical terminology, addiction is a state in which the body relies on a substance for normal functioning and develops physical dependence, as in drug addiction. When the drug or substance on which someone is dependent is suddenly removed, it will cause withdrawal, a characteristic set of signs and symptoms. Addiction is generally associated with increased drug tolerance. In physiological terms, addiction is not necessarily associated with substance abuse since this form of addiction can result from using medication as prescribed by a doctor. However, common usage of the term addiction has spread to include psychological dependence. Hope this helps.

Q. Can I get addicted to antibiotics?

My doctor prescribed me with 2 weeks of antibiotics, could I get addicted to them? How can I know if a medication is addictive or not?
A1no,antibiotics are not addictive, they are for healing the body of infections.
A2First of all- to be addictive a medication has to go threw a barrier that keeps out unknown materials from your brain. Then if it do passes- it has to make certain cells in the brain that controls your pleasure centers in the brain to react. Nicotine does it, heroin, opium, and every addictive drug. Here is a more detailed explanation:
here is a wikipedia page about it:
A3True above, antibiotics do not have any additive potential.

Q. Is it possible to get addicted to T.V?

My mother says I shouldn’t watch more than an hour and a half a day or I’ll get addicted. Could be? And what that means anyway? Is it harmful?
A1? well, I think you misunderstood your mother’s intention. It’s not that if you watch an hour and 28 minutes a day you are safe from T.V. addiction, it’s not like drugs that you can measure it and say that a few grams can get you addicted for life. But it is bad for your plans of becoming anything in this life.
A2addiction is a addiction yes its a form of escapism.. it can become addicted it had to do with some issues not wanting to be face.. at the moment... maybe..
A3Yes your mother is correct you should not watch more T.V. because it will affect your health as well as your your work or school. If you watch T.V. for a long time there is chance that your eye sight will reduce and it's not good to sit for a long time it may affect your backbone and if sit in front of the T.V. for the hole day then you will become fat because there is no exercise.

Q. Is it possible to be addicted to chocolate?

I love chocolate and eat at least a bar a day. Does this mean I am addicted to it?
A1few of my friends are addicted to dark chocolate, the really dark once. But I do believe its easy to quit (if you can resist that good taste), one of my friend eat dark chocolate just to help her fall asleep, which is very weird. But after she cured her sleeping problem she stopped eating.
A2Here is an article I found about chocolaholics that you might like:
and a movie about chocolaholics that might interest you:
A3as far as i know no one is sure, that's because in chocolate there are a lot of other materials, depending on the quality of it. there is a theory that people who has low levels of serotonin in their brain eat more chocolate and by that increase the amount of serotonin in the brain(serotonin plays an important role as a neurotransmitter in the modulation of anger, aggression, body temperature, mood, sleep, sexuality, appetite, and metabolism).
some people say there is a psychological addiction to chocolate.
but as far as i know no one proofed coco as an addictive material.

Q. Is addiction confirms alcoholism?

my husband regularly takes alcohol. I am afraid whether he is addicted to alcohol….Is addiction confirms alcoholism?
A1JENNIF,check out the alcohol communitie,here------mrfoot56
A2If your husband can stop taking alcohol and does not take alcohol continuously and can care for his health and social impact which are overrun by the alcohol drunk people once, then he is not having alcoholism. But it doesn’t mean that he is not alcoholic. What I would suggest you is to check his social environment and emotional health to know the causes for high alcohol use ….and try to talk to him and make him understand the adverse effects of excess intake of alcohol. If there is something serious then meet the doctor for guidance.
