Q. Are there any nice activities for adults with autism?

I've been helping a very nice man of 45 of years old and I'm looking for some new things I can do with him in our time together. any ideas?
AAutistic people react wonderfully with animals. for instance- i saw a group of severe Autistic teenagers going to swim with dolphins. the effect was amazing! taking him to the zoo, or even to the park to feed ducks, pet dogs, whatever.. could have a great effect on him.

Q. what is a passive smoking? and is it dangerous as an active?

APassive smoking is the exposure to cigarettes smoke emitted from cigarettes smoke by other person. It's dangerous and may increase the risk to several diseases similar to active smoking (one's exposure to smoke emitted from the cigarettes he or she is smoking) although the risk is of lower magnitude. Example for passive smoking is children of smokers etc.

Q. i swim a lot ! what are the advantages of swimming over other sport activities?

on what part of the body does it work the most ?
A1its a good workout but your not really going to burn as much calories as a regular work out.
A2The advantages are less weight bearing on joints like the knee, which may be injured during running or other weight bearing exercises. Swimming works mainly on the upper extremities and trunk. However, the water resistance to movement isn't enough if you intend to increase the muscle mass/strength - for this you'll need an exercise against load (e.g. weight lifting).

Moreover, it's not easy to reach pulse high enough for improving the heart capability during swimming.

Q. what is it a passive smoking? and is it bad as as the active smoking? can i get cancer from it?

APassive smoking is the involuntary exposure of nonsmokers to tobacco smoke from the smoking of others. It is considered dangerous, and cause increased risk of cancer, although to a lesser degree than active smoking.

Q. My son is 4 years old, very active and playful.I'm worried if he has ADHD.

My son is 4 years old, very active and playful. He goes to preschool everyday very happily. He easily memorizes alphabets, songs and color. He has good memory power. But his teacher complained me that though he is intelligent, he is always disruptive in the class, and doesn’t want to follow instructions. His teacher cannot really control him. I'm worried if he has ADHD.
AADHD is difficult to diagnose in preschool age children. These might be symptoms of ADHD in older children but your son is very young. Don't start ADHD meds to him; I feel that he is normal. My daughter was typically like this but she is OK now. I feel that the teacher has unrealistic expectations from kids at this stage, which is not good for the kid. Still, many bid kids have short attention spans, are hyperactive and like to play. So, don’t worry about this. Be cool.

AI too have read it somewhere in this community. In general, individuals with autism perform best at leisure activities too which are structured and involve a degree of repetition. The individuals who have autism enjoy the same recreational activities as like their non-handicapped friends. They like swimming, hiking, music, camping, working puzzles, playing table games, etc.

Q. My son who is 4yrs old is so hyper-active. How do I find out if my son has ADHD or ADD?

My son who is 4yrs old is so hyper-active that he climbs on everything and jumps off everything to. I cannot prevent that. I have also punished him. He cries for a split moment and then he just goes back to doing the same thing. I've tried every type of punishment that I could think of. I'm afraid of him. What can I do? How do I find out if my son has ADHD or ADD?
A1I agree complete physical and psycho analysis to rule out any underlying cause. But young children often act out characters; you could ask him why he's doing this and give plenty of proper oportunities to do so. Example when he climbs on and jumps off the furniture ask him what he is doing. He may be pretending to be something or someone. If so ask him where "so and So" does their jumping and ask or remind him what the funiture is for. explain how to properly use it have him demonstrate. Example: " What is a chair for or how do we use a chair? (sitting) "Where" (on the seat, child may touch the seat and answer here) "show me how" (child sits on seat of chair). Praise the positive behavior smiling and then suggest that he can play "so an So" somewhere else at another time: for instance if possible take him out to the playground or in a safe area lie a firm suitcase or other boxlike item on its side, cover with a soft quilt and supervise his c
A2My personal opinion is that you should keep your child off of medications that alter their brain, which is what drugs for ADD do, as well as other types of drugs.

Drugs for ADD are basically speed, and others have argued that the damage caused from taking such drugs to your child's brain outweigh any benefits of the drugs.

Perhaps your child is energetic, as a small puppy would be. I imagine it gets on your nerves, but read about ways to relax your child. Or perhaps therapy may improve his actions.

Children are frighteningly over-medicated these days, and they are harmful drugs.

but don't do the mistake of "diagnosing" him yourself. ADHD is a serious diagnosis and there are some other conditions with the same symptoms. so take him to specialist for a diagnosis.
