(4,20) In normal patients, the activated protein C degrades the patient's factor Va and VIIIa, and on that basis, prolongs the PTT.
Other authors have reported that aPL antibodies might inhibit PL-dependent reactivity of the activated protein C (APC) pathway, such as activation of protein C by thrombin/thrombomodulin or degradation of factor Va by activated protein C/protein S (1,23).
