Very different colors, such as
complementary colors, produce an exciting effect because they enhance each other with their differences.
This is when red and its
complementary color cyan are paired with a second complementary set right next to them on the color wheel.
Astrophotographers working with narrowband filters have more leeway to take advantage of
complementary color schemes, because they can assign each narrowband image to a different color channel to achieve dramatically different results than imagers working in RGB color.
