A respiratory gas measurement line (
capnometer line) was placed over the mask for gas measurements during the ventilation of the patient.
It was noted that the
capnometer confirms the tube position at the crucial 30 cm position.
Expiratory end-tidal C[O.sub.2] was recorded throughout the experiment through a nasal sampling line attached to a
capnometer (Capnocheck[TM]II8401 Smiths Medical, USA).
Monitoring of the ventilatory status of anesthetized birds of prey by using end-tidal carbon dioxide measured with a microstream
capnometer. J Zoo Wildl Med.
The first study evaluated the EMMA portable
capnometer in children under general anesthesia
However, it is also possible to monitor breathing with devices such as a pulse oximeter or a
capnometer, and we did not experience any issues in this study.
Then the probe is connected to a
capnometer via a Luer lock connection, and its gas content is transferred into it.
Patients were ventilated with a tidal volume of 8-10 ml/kg with ventilatory rate of 12-15 breaths per minute maintaining the end tidal CO2 (ETCO2 ) between 35-40 mm Hg as measured by
capnometer (Capnomac Ultima, Datex, Finland).
(1) In any event patients treated with propofol have to be treated precisely and monitored continuously with an ECG monitor, a pulse oximeter and
capnometer that contain alarms that detect changes quickly--something that Dr Murray failed to do and that led to Michael Jackson's death.1 It could be argued that in these circumstances, even though Jackson was desperate for relief from insomnia, Dr Murray should have refused to prescribe and administer propofol at Jackson's home on the basis that it would have been negligent and unethical for him to do so because: (i) it was inappropriate medication for insomnia; and (ii) it was too dangerous to use in a home setting.
Sp[O.sub.2] was measured by finger pulse oximeter and end tidal pressure of carbon dioxide ([P.sub.ET]C[O.sub.2]) was measured in a side-stream of expired air with a
capnometer (b).
A hand-held device called a
capnometer measures the amount of CO2 exhaled.
The respiratory frequency to tidal volume index (f/VT) was calculated during spontaneous ventilation using a Wright respirometer and end-tidal C[O.sub.2] was measured with a
capnometer (Capnocheck, BCI International).
